Welcome

February 28, 2025

Good afternoon fellow family researchers!

I want to invite you to our next event at Willard Library coming up on Saturday, March 8, 2025. We are calling this program “Sharing Your Family History.” We will meet from 1-4 pm at Willard Library’s lower level. This will be an afternoon for:
-Meeting the board and other members of Tri-State Genealogical Society
-Having questions answered about your research

-Learning how to get started with research if you are a beginner
-Having your important genealogy documents scanned and placed on a flash drive for you to keep (bring a blank flash drive with you)
-Learning about our tsgspaddlewheel.com website
-Seeing a demo of Family Tree Maker software and how it syncs with Ancestry.com

Then, on March 11, 2025, at 6 pm central, we will host our March program in person and on Zoom titled, “Point of Origin: How to Find Your Ancestral Village.” This program will be presented by Lisa Vogele, a professional genealogist and Certified Travel Advisor.

Don’t know where overseas your family originated from? This presentation covers a variety of sources to explore to locate your ancestor’s point of origin before arriving in the United States. Examples and strategies will be provided, including the following: resources for locating town of origin, strategies for name changes, tips for boundary changes, and overcoming handwriting & language challenges.

Lisa is the Chief Tree Climber at Travel Your Tree: Where Ancestry Meets Adventure, a full-service family history research, travel planning & custom tour operator. She is passionate about traveling in the footsteps of your ancestors to make or re-establish connections of personal, historical significance. In 2016, Lisa authored Food & Folklore: A Year of Italian Festivals, a guidebook to assist travelers with incorporating heritage festivals into their itineraries, get off the beaten path, and experience local culture through food and historic events. She earned a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University in 2019 and a Certified Travel Associate (CTA) credential from The Travel Institute. Her travel tips have been featured in the Huffington Post, 1000 Travel Tips, the Dream of Italy Newsletter, and her travel blog LisaLovesToTravel.com. She holds a Master’s degree from Clemson University, was raised in Connecticut, and resides in Colorado.

On April 8, again at 6 pm central, Lisa is back with “Travel Your Tree: Walking in Your Ancestor’s Footsteps.”

I sincerely hope you will join us for all of the exciting meetings we have coming up!
