It’s probably no surprise to you by now that I’m passionate about sharing stories; tales from those who lived decades or even centuries ago. After finding out that I’m the granddaughter of a United States Colored Troop (USCT)–John Alexander Blaine–who fought during the American Civil War, I’m honored to research and discuss my African American heritage. And while I’m always excited to share information about USCT, there’s really no better time to spread this history than during Black History Month! Whether you’re a proud USCT descendant like I am or you’re ready to learn about this lesser-known piece of the past, I hope you enjoy looking through the links below to honor these brave fighters.
